David E. Boyes

August 24, 1965 – September 9, 2025

Beloved teacher, husband, and friend. 

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David Boyes, who left us on September 9, 2025, at the age of 60. A dedicated educator, husband, and loyal friend, David touched countless lives with his warmth, kindness, and unwavering support. He inspired many with his passion for teaching and commitment to fostering growth in others.

Master of Arts degree from Honor’s College at the University of Oregon, Euguene. Established their first computer lab, which is named after him. Earned a PhD from Rice University. Passionate teacher. Technology pioneer who significantly contributed to Linux on IBM Mainframe by running initial Proof of Concept test. Co-Founder and CTO of Sine Nomine Associates since 2000. Generously shared his talents and knowledge, especially through his contributions to a textbook on z/VM and his determination to foster that technology and a new generation of experts, and with donation to two museums to dedicated to mainframe technology. The two museums are the former Living Computer Museum that was in Seattle, Washington and the Large Scale Sytems Museum. The Large Scale Systems Museum is hosting a 10 year Anniversary Fundraiser; if you wish to honor David, a donation could be made in his name.

David will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the many lives he touched and lessons he shared.
