MAILBOOK Online User Guide: The MAILBOOK Command

The MAILBOOK Command In the preceding The MAIL Command section, we discussed saving your mail in notebooks. Now we'll see how to use the MAILBOOK command to read, reply to, forward, print, and discard the mail that you've saved. Getting Started If you know the name of the notebook you want and don't need to list all your notebooks, just enter MAILBOOK name where name is the filename of the notebook you want. The screen shown below will appear. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Notebook Message View Options Window Help _______________________________________________________________________________ Mailbook: PRINCE NOTEBOOK B0 Lines 1 to 16 of 620 More: + From: To: Date: Subject: Snow White Prince Charming 3/15/99 Glass Slipper???? However, from this point on, everything you've learned about READing, SAVEing, REPLYing to, FORWARDing, PRINTing, COPYing, MOVing, DISCARDing, and QUITting mail with the MAIL command is applicable here. See the Mail Command sections: Reading Incoming MAIL, Saving Incoming Mail, Replying To Mail, Forwarding Mail, Printing Mail, Copying Groups of Incoming Mail, Moving Incoming Mail, Discarding Mail, and Quitting Mail. If you're not sure which notebook you want to work with, type MAILBOOK and press Enter. The MAILBOOK MENU screen will appear as shown below. All your notebooks on all your disks will be listed on the screen. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following 121 files match your specification of * NOTEBOOK * Cmd Filename Filetype Fm Format Lrecl Records Blocks Date Time UNREAD NOTEBOOK A0 V 80 2152 105 3/20/99 18:50:14 PRINCE NOTEBOOK B1 V 80 21130 276 3/20/99 16:52:25 DWARFS NOTEBOOK B0 V 80 11649 128 3/20/99 16:45:40 TESTMAIL NOTEBOOK A0 V 79 221 10 3/20/99 15:05:27 APPLES NOTEBOOK B0 V 80 10648 124 3/20/99 13:27:46 ALL NOTEBOOK A0 V 143 6191 295 3/20/99 13:23:50 MAIL NOTEBOOK B0 V 80 7018 79 3/19/99 23:19:43 IBM NOTEBOOK B0 V 80 12351 140 3/19/99 17:30:30 HESC NOTEBOOK B0 V 80 5804 77 3/19/99 13:47:38 DUMMY NOTEBOOK B0 V 74 9 1 3/19/99 13:45:59 TEST NOTEBOOK A1 V 72 1 1 3/19/99 13:28:52 QUEEN NOTEBOOK B0 V 80 5455 65 3/19/99 13:15:02 CCITT NOTEBOOK B0 V 80 954 11 3/19/99 10:57:58 BITNET NOTEBOOK B0 V 80 8835 79 3/18/99 22:22:48 USENET NOTEBOOK B0 V 80 1676 19 3/18/99 21:03:36 SNOW NOTEBOOK B0 V 80 12583 149 3/18/99 15:36:59 BITNIC NOTEBOOK B0 V 80 3772 44 3/18/99 15:25:03 1= Help 2= Refresh 3= Quit 4= Sort(type) 5= Sort(date) 6= Sort(size 7= Backward 8= Forward 9= FL /n 10= MAILBOOK 11= XEDIT 12= Cursor ====> X E D I T 1 File -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Figure 26 - Choosing from multiple notebooks Choose a notebook by positioning the cursor on the line describing the notebook and pressing F10.
