Debian/390 for z/VM Media ServiceThis offering delivers a complete Linux CD or tape package of the
Debian/390 distribution designed to be installed using CMS facilities,
and configured to benefit from the unique capabilities of the z/VM
environment to make installation and deployment of Linux images easy and
simple.
The service includes creating and delivering a 6 CD set
containing the entire Debian/390 distribution and package selection
available for the s390 architecture, and an additional CD containing a
preconfigured installation server system and tools to rapidly deploy new
images. All costs for media production and delivery are included in the
price of the one-time service -- we do not charge for the software; you
pay only for the service of creating and shipping the media. The media
service does not include updates of the distribution, installation
support or maintenance -- it is intended to allow easy acquisition and
testing of Linux on the 390 at minimum cost. There are no restrictions
on number of physical machines installed or size of machines.
The one-time cost of the media distribution service is US $150, which includes shipping and handling to any legally permitted destination world-wide. The distribution package also includes a coupon valid for a US $1000 credit towards support and maintenance services for the Debian/390 distribution. Note: CD1 in the Debian distribution contains encryption routines and other security software that may be subject to US export laws. Customers in the US will receive a CD containing US-approved encryption and security libraries; customers outside the United States will receive a CD containing the encryption and security libraries permitted outside the US. Future releases will include support for LPAR and tape installation. This release requires a supported VM/ESA or z/VM release and a functioning VM TCP/IP stack to operate.
